Education

Biology

If you want to be a biologist you are interested in living organisms, their life and interaction with surroundings. A biology education typically takes three to five years to finish. After three years you get a bachelor’s degree and after five years you have completed a master’s degree. During this period you will get a basic introduction to principles in biology before you get the opportunity to specialize in an area that interests you.

General manager at SEA ECO AS

Tone Rasmussen

I am an educated marine biologist from the University of Tromsø with one-year pedagogical education (lector) and leadership development (Nordnorsk Lederutvikling) in addition. My days at work is very varied; Some days I’m in the office and other days I’m working out in the field or traveling. When I’m out in the field, I take samples of seabed, water, fish or benthos, and measurements of water quality, ocean currents etc. These samples are then taken to the laboratory for processing. Based on collected data, I write reports and have meetings with customers to talk about and discuss the results.
In addition.

The best thing about my job is that the work I do is meaningful and that I often see the practical results of the work. Finding good solutions for using the nature without destroying it is important, and I find it incredibly motivating and exciting being able to make an active contribution to achieving this.
